Fair time is without a doubt when all the buildings on the Kansas State Fairgrounds are the most lively, full of people and activities as fairgoers bring these grounds to life together. It’s no different for the Lair White House.
Though relatively few people claim to have been inside this iconic building, it hosts many Fair season activities during the Kansas State Fair. The most well-known portion being the Kansas State Fair Museum, the part of the building fairgoers are likely the most familiar.

Each year, the dedicated and hardworking team of curators works for months putting together the entertaining and educational displays featuring Kansas State Fair history and culture. Each year, the displays center around a theme ranging from iconic entertainment to non-fair activities and more.
The 2026 theme focuses on Competitive Exhibits, displaying examples and information about the competitions one may find as they peruse the fair. Everything from agriculture to textiles, antiques to food and more!
This year is especially significant for the Lair White House as the Budweiser Clydesdales will be making a special Folds of Honor presentation in front of the building on Saturday, September 19, 2026 around 2:30pm during their Full-Hitch Parade around the Fairgrounds from 1-3pm that day.

Even at Part Four of the Lair White House series, there is still more to explore! We still haven’t even gotten to our staircase of mystery! So stay tuned, there’s more to come!
Around the Grounds is a monthly E-Update series that explores the buildings and attractions of the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Most places have a lot to uncover, so they’ll appear in multiple parts over time. We won’t always cover those parts back-to-back — rather, we’ll move around the Fairgrounds and highlight different buildings along the way. Over time, Around the Grounds will create a growing look at many different spaces — one article at a time.
Join us as we continue to explore the Fairgrounds! Be sure you (and your friends!) are signed up for our First Friday E-Updates to receive future Around the Grounds features straight to your inbox.
