From the Desk of the Executive Director: November 2026

Fall is upon us and the end of 2026 is just around the corner.  Our schedule at the Foundation has been a busy but engaging one as we completed the Kansas State Fair, the Nine Lives concert series at the 1861 Club, the reintroduction of the Big Slide and assumption of its operation, not to mention selling the official Kansas State Fair merchandise along with Salt Water Taffy out of the merchandise booth we supply and operate.

All of these activities require the investment we make in ourselves, our passion, our opportunity to make a difference and to ensure a strong and robust future of The Kansas State Fairgrounds. Not only is the fairgrounds a vital gathering place for agriculture, education, entertainment, and community, it envelopes the strong legacy of the Fair all while creating new opportunities that benefit the people of Kansas.

Legacy — the lasting impact and influence that we leave on the world, fueled by a commitment to excellence, service and the pursuit of a meaningful life.  Each of us has significant moments in our lives that make an impact. Those things may seem small at the time, but they often are the source of great change in the trajectory of our lives. For many of us, this has been our involvement with the Kansas State Fair.

Sometimes we don’t think about those pivotal moments that caused us to take that deep breath but when we take that pause we can reflect on those sometimes small, but integral moments and reflections that drive us to strengthen that meaningfulness of our lives.

A Legacy Gift to the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation through estate-planned giving is a way that some have chosen to build that legacy, make a significant impact on the Kansas State Fair and add to that meaningfulness in life. Creation of a Legacy Gift for a future project of the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation is a way to enhance and improve the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Your Legacy Gift will allow future generations of Kansans the opportunity to create those memories, lasting friendships and fall in love with the Fair just as the generosity of many has through the years.

Please let me know how I can assist you, answer any questions, develop partnerships and facilitate growth as we work together on building the future for Kansas State Fairgrounds.

Plant the seed of your legacy.
