April was one of those months that reminds us exactly why the 1861 Club exists — bringing people together in meaningful, memorable ways. From heartfelt moments to high-energy celebrations, every event added something special to our space.
We began the month with the Open Door Men’s Breakfast, and as always, it delivered powerful, heartwarming stories that stick with you long after the morning ends. There’s something incredibly moving about that room — it makes us tear up every time. It’s a reminder of the strength and vulnerability within this community.
The energy carried right into the Mennonite Relief Sale weekend, where both the 1861 patio and the fairgrounds were alive with activity. It was wonderful to see so many people gathering for such a meaningful cause, filling the space with purpose and connection.
We were also honored to host the Kansas Fairs & Festivals meeting, welcoming leaders from across the state who are passionate about creating events that bring communities together — something we deeply value ourselves.

One of the most fun nights of the month? Haven High School Prom! The night was packed with personality — from a crowd-favorite dirty soda bar to a chocolate fountain and a dance floor that never slowed down. And yes… every single student knew every word to Justin Bieber. It was unforgettable watching them celebrate together.
We also had the pleasure of hosting a Chamber Breakfast, catered by Salt City Brewing’s “Top Shelf,” featuring T&B Electric as Small Business of the Month. It’s always a highlight to spotlight the hardworking businesses that help our community thrive.
The Sterling College President’s Circle Banquet brought a beautiful evening of fellowship and appreciation. This event recognized top level donors to Sterling college from all over the region, bringing together past graduates and current students to recognize them for great successes. They also honored the major donors that help support the college and the mission of the universe of the of the school.
A Sunday wedding reception filled the Club with love, laughter, and joyful celebration — exactly the kind of moments we cherish most. From getting ready to heading off into forever, every moment was lovingly put together by many friends and loved ones. Simple, yet elegant — topped with fun!

We closed out April preparing for one of our most anticipated events of the season — our luxury Kentucky Derby fundraiser, Hats & Horses. The excitement is building, and we can’t wait to kick off May in style.
As always, thank you for continuing to make the 1861 Club a place where connection, celebration, and community come to life.
