Where is the best photography destination in Hutchinson, Kansas? One of the contenders happens to be the Lair White House on the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Welcome to the Part Three of the Lair White House edition of Around the Grounds.

Whether it’s for prom, a wedding, graduations, or just for fun, the exterior of the Lair White House continues to be a popular location for photo shoots throughout the year. The unique architectural style of the building, along with the public access of the Fairgrounds, is likely to thank for its popularity.
Photos taken at the Lair White House are popping even more lately, since much needed repainting and other maintenance has been taking place this year. The Spanish-style building, with its red tiled roof and bright white stucco siding, is looking better than ever.

Did you know the Lair White House was actually designed by students of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburgh, Kansas?
But that’s a story for another time.
Around the Grounds is a monthly E-Update series that explores the buildings and attractions of the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Most places have a lot to uncover, so they’ll appear in multiple parts over time. We won’t always cover those parts back-to-back — rather, we’ll move around the Fairgrounds and highlight different buildings along the way. Over time, Around the Grounds will create a growing look at many different spaces — one article at a time.
Join us as we continue to explore the Fairgrounds! Be sure you (and your friends!) are signed up for our First Friday E-Updates to receive future Around the Grounds features straight to your inbox.
