Do you know where the Official Kansas State Fair Merchandise and Information booth is located on the Kansas State Fairgrounds? Turns out, the small 10’ x 10’ booth is easily missed by some during the Kansas State Fair. That’s understandable, given its size and location apart from other shopping areas.
This year, however, we aim to change that.
The building the booth is currently part of is known to many as the “Fountain House,” named for its location next to the Lair-Steckline Interactive Water Fountain in the center of the Fairgrounds. This building is scheduled for renovation this year. The vision? A fully stocked, beautiful, and functional space to serve as the official Kansas State Fair souvenir shop.
This renovation will enclose the building, creating a climate-controlled space where fairgoers can shop for Fair memories to take home. It will also drastically expand the footprint of the current booth—so it will no longer be a booth at all, but a full-fledged store.
Enhancing the Kansas State Fair experience is what this project is all about. Having a dedicated storefront for souvenirs will add to the overall Fair experience and elevate the visit for anyone who stops by.
Projects like this don’t just happen. The Fountain House renovation has been on the slate for several years, and many donors have already made gifts toward bringing this vision to life. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this pivotal project so far.
That said, we are still looking for a founder—someone willing to make a lead donation to the project and be part of the exciting future this renovation will bring to the Kansas State Fair. In addition, we continue to welcome gifts of all sizes in support of the Fountain House project. Donations of $250 or more will have the donor’s name added to a plaque inside the building.
