May was a jam-packed month at the 1861 Club, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the energy, laughter, and meaningful moments that filled our space!
We kicked off the month with our first Kentucky Derby fundraising event, Hats & Horses, and wow- what a success! The excitement of the races, festive fashion, and community spirit made for an unforgettable day. We’re already dreaming about how to make it even better next year.

Next up, we had the pleasure of hosting Disability Supports’ Cinco de Mayo celebration. From flavorful tacos and upbeat tunes to laughter in the photo booth— the event was bursting with joy! It was a true celebration of inclusion, fun, and flavor.
We were honored to be the setting for three graduation parties, each one full of pride, hugs, and hope for the future. It was a privilege to help families celebrate such amazing young people and their big accomplishments.
Open Door’s Men’s Breakfast brought powerful connection and inspiration to our venue, featuring a fantastic guest speaker and a well-organized morning that left everyone feeling uplifted and encouraged.
And exciting news-members of the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation Board took a special trip to Walnut River Brewery to kick off the first batch of a custom brew for the 1861 Club! We can’t wait to share more about this delicious collaboration.

In between all the celebrations, tours continued, wedding and event planning season is in full swing, and preparation for the Fair is underway. It’s safe to say, the momentum is building, and summer is shaping up to be one for the books.
Thank you to everyone who made May so special. Whether you joined us for an event, scheduled a tour, or supported us from afar-we appreciate you. Here’s to more unforgettable moments ahead at the 1861 Club!
