The Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation is excited to introduce Maddie Burns and announce that she has joined the Foundation team as the Events & Sales Manager for the 1861 Club. In this position Maddie will work with the clients who book the venue for events as well as assist with managing the venue during the Kansas State Fair.
Maddie describes herself as a results-driven professional with extensive experience in team leadership and customer service. She has a proven ability to bring process improvements and strategic operational enhancements to benefit the organization.
Maddie attended Fort Hayes State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a goal of working in the hospitality industry.
Helping to coordinate weddings, corporate and special events is something I greatly enjoy. This is the perfect job for me. It allows me to use my degree as well as provide me with the opportunity to help make events special for the organizations and people planning and attending them at the 1861 Club.

Maddie will start her duties as Events and Sales Manager for the 1861 Club on March 18.
Located on the Kansas State Fairgrounds, the 1861 Club opened in 2024. Having been built by the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation, it is also operated by the Foundation year-round. The venue operates as a food, beverage and entertainment establishment during the Kansas State Fair and as a wedding, corporate and special event venue throughout the year. The 1861 Club – a Space as Grand as Your Dreams – will serve a multitude of purposes for individuals, corporations, and nonprofits.
