Employer Information

The Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with an office located on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. As a separate and independent organization, the Foundation acts as the fundraising arm for the Kansas State Fair and Fairgrounds. The Foundation’s mission is to inspire excellence and understanding of Kansas agriculture, industry and culture through the Kansas State Fair, activities, educational programs and opportunities. The specific purposes of the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation shall be to further the renovation, construction, preservation and beautification of the Kansas State Fairgrounds; to help, assist, promote, support, maintain, enhance, endow and advance the interests of the Kansas State Fair: and to encourage education of the public about the Kansas State Fair and its purpose and activities

Since 2003, the Foundation has supported primarily small, important renovation, improvement and beautification projects throughout the Fairgrounds in addition to building the Lair White House, which houses the Kansas State Fair Museum, the office of the Foundation, reception and conference rooms.

In recent years, the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation has grown exponentially in terms of the number and scale of projects on the Fairgrounds, with no expectations of slowing down. The Foundation has an active and engaged board of directors that continue to push for progress.

The Foundation’s signature FUNdraising event is Boots and Bling, which hosted 700 attendees in 2023. In 2024 the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation is launching the 1861 Club, a food and beverage venue during the Kansas State Fair and premier event rental for non-fair events year-round. The goal of the 1861 Club is to provide a source of continual income to continue supporting Foundation projects and programs.

In 2023 the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation successfully completed the Capper Project, the first major construction project since the Lair White House in 2014. The project included rebuilding the historic House of Capper and adding the new Capper Cooperative Park to the Kansas State Fairgrounds. More large and exciting projects are on the horizon and the possibilities are endless!
